It takes every particle of the aircraft compositions to determine how fast and how far can endure efficiently. 

Today Future Friday is dedicated to the advances of Carbon fiber, graphite Fiber also known as Composite material in the aerospace sector. The discovery of the material dates back to 1869 with Thomas Edison; this year is 140 years and material in constantly being applied, for specific section of the aircraft. Aircraft manufacturers slowly increase the composite material in several sections of the aircraft due to tremendous benefits; such lighter weight equals fuel efficiency, stronger resisting all phases of flights and resistant to corrosion which is critical deterioration of the aircraft since aircraft turned from wood to steel & aluminum. 

 

Aircraft composite research, advances and application are part of daily task for aerospace manufacturers as they continue to compete with promising material that benefits the aircraft composite structures. 

Solving Problems Advantages

Composite Material dot not corrode, meaning it reduces traditional maintenance services. It does not crack from fatigue and friend flexible to different environments.  Composite Last longer compared to aluminum. 

Lighter is major factor of continued application, because it translates to fuel efficiency, lower cost and longer range. 

 

However we can not ignore the current concerns of the material usage which has put a brake the future. Composite resin used is sensitive to high temperature taken an extra precaution to avoid fires, also present a health concerns 

 

In the new advances comes at a higher cost, composite material is expensive.

 

Efforts continue to evolve on new materials, but first place is given to a prototype approved for full composite fuselage; the case of LearJet 85. Due to high cost involved, Bombardier have formally cancelled LearJet 85 Programme 2015. 

 

Other new technologies has come applicable to the aircraft parts and components associated with the aircraft, including Engines, Landing Gears, Hydraulic Systems, Brakes, Fuel Control Unit, Interior, Lights, Switch, Circuits Board, and on.
